The Bozeman Bucks are hosting their annual College Basketball Calcutta, where all basketball teams in the 2018 March Tournament get auctioned off one at at time to the highest bidder. Payouts are based on the number of wins each team gets in the tournament. 80% of the overall money pot gets paid out to winners, while 20% goes to the Bozeman Bucks. See the flyer for more details.
You can form a group to increase your bidding power if desired.
Call Coach Schultz @ 406-570-3676 with questions. We hope to see you there!
Monday/Wednesday, 7:45 – 9:00 p.m., Hawk Gym (next to the wrestling room at the high school, north east of Ruth Thibault Way). These workouts are optional, and are intended to give the players an opportunity to prepare for tryouts and the coming season. The focus of the workouts will be to get our bodies in shape and ready to throw by the end of February. We will be doing conditioning (core, shoulder strength and stability using a J-band program, legs, etc.), speed training, and improving mechanics.
We will also be offering hitting sessions @ Play it Again Sports. The schedule is posted on the SignupGenius link on our website. Hitting is typically on Sunday, but there are some conflicts on a couple Sundays, so we’ll offer Thursdays on those weeks. Refer to the SignupGenius for the full schedule. No hitting tomorrow 2/4.

(Bozeman, Mont.) The American Legion Baseball Executive Committee announced today that Director and Head Coach Richard Poliquin has resigned. Coach Poliquin led the Bucks Program through a successful 2017 season including a conference title for the “AA” team. Poliquin told the Executive Committee that personal matters required him to join his family in Arizona. Poliquin stated, “It was a hard decision to leave the players and the program, but family had to come first.”
Legion baseball is in the middle of game and winter work out scheduling so the Executive Committee started the process of looking for a replacement immediately. Several finalists from last year’s nationwide search were currently working in the program and were considered to replace Coach Poliquin.
The Bozeman Baseball Executive Committee has announced that 2017 head Bucks “A” Coach Garrett Schultz has accepted the offer to become the 2018 Director and Head Coach of Bozeman Legion Baseball effective January 1st.
Coach Rich Poliquin
Coach Garrett Schultz
Schultz enters his 7th year coaching Legion Baseball, and will bring his competitive mentality to the director position. Schultz says, “I am excited to continue to develop young men of integrity and build a perennially competitive program that represents our Bozeman Community and Post 14 well. Coach Poliquin and the 2017 staff have the program in a great place, and we have some quality young men returning from last year’s successful team. I’m grateful for this opportunity and looking forward to getting started.”
Schultz was part of last year’s program-wide success, where he led the Bucks “A” squad to a much-improved 4th place conference and district finish. Schultz previously served as the head coach in Belgrade, where his 2011 team went 26-2 in conference, securing both a conference and district championship. He has also served as an assistant coach in Gillette, WY, where he helped the Roughriders to a 2014 State Championship.
Schultz caught for two years at NAIA College of Idaho, as well as one season in the Boise Collegiate Summer League. He is a local Belgrade, MT product, playing his legion career for the Bandits. He currently lives in Bozeman with his wife Jessica, and sons Weston, Cannon, and Kayson.
Schultz hopes to retain much of last year’s coaching staff, but he will be looking to fill at least one coaching role, as his promotion creates a vacancy at the “A” level. Interested applicants should contact him at email@example.com.
